How EMI Locker Works — End-to-End Device Financing Workflow

EMI Locker connects every part of the device financing chain. From the moment a retailer onboards to the moment a customer's device is locked for non-payment, every step is automated, tracked, and visible to the right level of the hierarchy.

Step 1 — Onboarding & Hierarchy Setup

Admins create the top-level hierarchy. SuperDistributors, Distributors, and SalesPersons each register under their respective parent. Retailers can self-register directly or be created by their parent. Every new account requires parent approval before activation — ensuring no unauthorized access enters the network.

Step 2 — Key Request & Distribution

Keys are the unit of operation in EMI Locker. Admin generates keys (free). Keys flow down the hierarchy through a structured request-and-approval process. Each seller sets their own per-key price, records the transfer, and tracks payment via the wallet. Keys can also be returned up the chain if unused.

  • Request Flow

Child submits request with quantity and payment details → parent reviews → approves or rejects → keys transfer automatically on approval.

  • Return Flow

Child requests return of unused keys → parent approves → keys transfer back up. Optional buyback payment recorded in wallet. Full audit trail maintained.

  • Low Stock Alerts

Dashboard shows key availability in traffic-light format: 6+ keys (green), 1–5 keys (yellow), 0 keys (red — purchase required immediately).

Step 3 — Device Activation via Android App

The customer downloads the EMI Locker Android app. The retailer assigns a key to the customer. The customer registers their device using that key — either by scanning a QR code or entering the key manually. Once registered, the key is permanently consumed and the device enters the monitoring system. No factory reset required, no Accessibility Service abuse — EMI Locker uses the proper Device Policy Controller (DPC) API.

Step 4 — EMI Monitoring & Payment Tracking

The retailer tracks each device's EMI status from their dashboard. Payment due dates, installment amounts, payment history, and outstanding balance are all visible per device. When a payment is missed, the retailer can send an EMI reminder or trigger a device lock — all from the web panel.

  • Payment Reminder (FCM)

Firebase push notifications alert the customer on EMI due dates automatically. No manual outreach required.

  • Remote Lock

Retailer triggers lock from panel. Device receives command via FCM. Lock screen appears with the custom message set by the retailer. Device is unusable until unlocked.

  • Remote Unlock

Once payment is confirmed, retailer sends unlock command. Device unlocks within seconds. Customer gets instant access back.

Step 5 — Wallet Settlement & Audit

Every key purchase automatically creates a wallet entry. The buyer sees it as a payable; the seller sees it as a receivable. Partial payments, credit transactions, and full settlements are all tracked. Payment references (UPI, bank transfer, cash) are recorded. The end-of-day position is visible instantly — total collectible, total payable, and net outstanding.
